Virtual Interviewer: Hi Pissoa. Thanks for having this interview with us.
Real Me: Hi! And thanks for having this interview likewise.
VI: Can you provide some information about yourself?
RM: Hmmm, Well – (waaow, she is shy) – I made myself called Pissoa. I am a plain regular girl, and I’m just old enough to have this interview I guess.
VI: How did you discover internet for the very first time?
RM: The very first time … I honestly do not remember, but I am sure it did no happen to me before the big year 2000 – the year I entered university. Internet really made/makes things happen but it did not impress me that much. Hanging out with my friends was a lot more fun than mailing them from one corner of a room and hear them read it from the other corner. Internet only made sense to me in late 2004, as it was the only or the most reasonable way to be in touch with “my” host institute in South-Africa. Weeks later, I took my mother to an internet-café and showed her how does the soon-to-be-my-town look like … And there I knew I’d just have to be friend with internet to be in touch with the family.
VI: 2004?!
RM: … so I said!
VI: And are you “friend” with internet?
RM: At least I use internet on a daily basis now.
VI: Professional, personal … silly?
RM: Ah ah ah … a bit of everything. Everything had happened so fast since I moved to Sotuh Africa. Internet is one of the many ways to keep in touch with my family and friends. I also discovered the fun world of serasera.org and met new people there. I met a supervisor online. No … that’s a big lie. I just had to Google and browse through some websites like many students from the 21st century in order to make my decision for further studies … I've also used internet for scholarships and bursaries hunting …
VI: Do you wish to extend you interest in web design?
RM: Well … I already understand some html …
VI: ...
RM: What else can I say … I don’t even know if I will ever post to my blog after this one …
VI: CUUUUT
